Room to Read's Star-Studded NY Gala Raises $2.8 million for Programs in India
Last night, Room to Read held its annual New York gala at The High Line Hotel, where R&B singer, Faith Evans, performed and Sean “Diddy” Combs, Chairman and CEO of Combs Enterprises and David M. Solomon, President and Co-COO of Goldman Sachs were honored for their incredible commitment to education. The evening brought New York's financial, business and entertainment industries together to raise $2.8 million, which will support 56,000 children in Room to Read's Literacy and Girls’ Education Programs in India.
Girls' Education India alumna, Roshanara, made her first trip to New York City for the event, where she not only explored the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, but also left a lasting impression on attendees as she shared how Room to Read helped her negotiate out of an arranged marriage to pursue college and her dreams!
